Empowering the Girl Child To Unlock Their Full Potential
Breaking the cycle of teenage pregnancy, school dropout, and poverty through mentorship, education, and community support.

Transforming the Lives of Adolescent Girls and Young Mothers in Kenya
EROHI empowers adolescent girls, teen mothers, and vulnerable families through mentorship, education support, health access, and economic empowerment programs. To date, we have reached over 1,200 adolescent mothers and helped them strengthen life skills, return to school, improve parenting practices, and build resilient futures. We work at the intersection of teenage pregnancy, poverty, gender inequality, & social injustice realities to create community-led solutions that unlock long-term opportunity for girls and their children.
What We Do

We create community-led solutions that support adolescent girls, young mothers, and families to thrive.
Our Work
The Sad Reality of Many Adolescent Mothers in Kenya
In Kenya, nearly 15% of girls aged between 15 to 19 years become pregnant every year. Of these, at least 13,000 girls drop out of school with no hope for a future. They experience many challenges including stigma, mental health issues, isolation, lack of support and much more. Additionally, these challenges, if not addressed properly, affect the development, health, and long-term wellbeing of their children…

Why It Matters
Early pregnancy interrupts education, limits opportunity, and alters the course of their future. This is because, when a girl becomes pregnant, she is far more likely to drop out of school and many never return. Without education, her economic options shrink, increasing the risk of long-term poverty and overdependence to the community. In rural communities where employment opportunities are already limited, this vulnerability deepens.

Our Stories of Change

“When I first joined the program, I had just delivered my baby and wasn’t sure what my future held. With the support I received, I was encouraged to continue my education. Today, I am back in school at St. Anne’s Nanyeni Secondary School, thanks to the sponsorship from EROHI. I feel hopeful and proud that I can still chase my dreams while being a young mother”
LILIAN ACHIENG- BENEFICIARY

“Many girls in my community drop out of school before finishing high school. A new school was started with support from EROHI’s mentorship program, and more girls from our community are now going to secondary school. I am happy about this progress.”
PRISCAH PARENT

“Before the program, I was shy and embarrassed because I had delivered my baby at home at a young age. I didn’t feel proud of myself and avoided talking about it. After the training, I learned that I am not alone and gained the confidence to say a firm ‘No’ when I need to. I now feel empowered and proud of myself, and I know I can make decisions that protect me and my baby “
TRIZER- BENEFICIARY

Joining the SRH program gave me a safe space to share my health challenges. I opened up about having Genital Herpes, something I had been struggling with silently. With the program’s support, I was able to get proper treatment at the hospital. Now I am healthy and confident, and I know I can take care of myself and my baby
